Today we know that World War II began not 1939 or 1941 but in the 1920's and 1930's when those who should have known better persuaded themselves that they were not their brother's keeper.

To imagine that this table was around during that era makes this table so very special! If only we knew where this table has traveled. I do know a bit of its history. It has been in my husbands family for over 90 plus years and lived a majority of its life in Brooklyn, NY. When I was offered the table to repurpose I worried that by painting it, I would ruin all its treasure. But the honest truth is that I really believe that how the table looks now is part of its real personality.
This table was completely taken apart, stripped, and sanded. Amulent Furniture and Decor Paint in Farmhouse Grey was used as the base coat. I painted the underneath of both the top shelf and bottom shelf with Amulent Paint in Snowfall. Amulent Clear Wax was then applied to the entire table. The polka dots were then painted on the top and bottom shelf with Amulent Paint in Snowfall. I sealed the entire table with Amulent Ultra-Tough Topcoat (non-yellowing). The legs of the table were stripped and Varathane wood stain in Dark Walnut was used to accentuate the curves and grain of the wood. The legs were then sealed with Varathane's Wood Sealant in a matte finish. The age of this piece along with the hand-painted polka dots makes it fit right in with Swirl's Furniture Collection. You will not see another piece like this!!!
